It’s hard to say whether the most challenging part of our year is coming up with resolutions that we will strive to keep during the year or actually doing the things necessary to keep the resolutions. Resolutions can bring about many different sentiments too. If you are able to achieve your goals, it brings about accomplishment but if you are unable to keep your resolutions it can warrant defeat.
No matter what your resolutions are there are things that you can do to ensure that you have a great year while developing as an individual.
1. Give bad thoughts the boot
Negative thinking or wandering thinking will zap your energy and leave you with a debilitating headache. Take control of your thoughts. Any thought that is negative or does not pertain to your current task either write it down or actively cast the thought out. Even if the thought comes back cast it out again. Train your brain to do what you need it to do. Proverbs 23:7
2. Turn off the TV
Although the TV keeps us abreast of what is happening around us yet it is constantly feeding us information that can send our brains into overload. The worst part is much of the information that is coming from the TV is useless to us because it does not provide spiritual enrichment. Romans 12:2

Whoever said that multi-tasking was the best way to get a lot of things done; probably didn’t get much done. Research shows that the power of focusing on one task at a time will allow you to be more efficient and effective in completing tasks. Focus on your given task and complete them one at a time. Phillipians 3:13-14
4. Fast & Pray
Let’s face it when we are hungry we want to fill our stomach but there are things in life that require us to do without food in order for them to become apparent in our lives. For fasting to be effective you need to study God’s word and pray. Daniel 9:3
5. Draw Closer
The difference between you now and you in the next 5 years is going to be based on your ability to grow with God. There is no one who ever got to the place of complete fulfillment in life without the help of God. If you’re going to go higher, your relationship with God will have to grow deeper. Psalms 73:28
